Issues on Privacy Android & iPhone

Privacy can be explained as such…..

No Sign In = No Identity
  • Android and iOS phones and devices need a login to enable the device to operate correctly. In so doing, you are identifying yourself through your email address, mobile number and if you ever want to purchase via the App Stores, your credit or debit card details. What you have unwittingly done is link those 3 actions to you and your identity.
  • Your mobile devices software, both Googles Android and Apples iOS then have soul access to the code that runs on your phone. This code controls what identifying info is transmitted with or without your consent. Things like WiFi triangulation, GPS and BLE (Bluetooth low energy) signals cannot be controlled by the user/owner regardless of them being switched on or off.
  • Google and iOS are both constantly listening into your day to day conversations even if they say it happens unintentional. I’ll briefly give you an example. Both systems listen for the activation commands “Hey Google” or “Siri”, so regardless of what you set the device to do, it overwrites your command settings. This is just one example of the “Always Active” issues with Google Android and iOS.
  • Contact tracing is another example. It was supposedly installed/activated for Covid but we have not heard of this function being deactivated or disabled by either Google or Apple? No! Why? They want to carry on tracking and monitoring your movements.
  • With WiFi triangulation, GPS and Contact Tracing in place, both Google and Apple can and do, see where your are, on which network you run, who you are next to (knowing who they are through identifying their devices just like yours) as well as who you have come in contact with. See a picture forming?
  • With only but a few examples mentioned above, we can clearly see that even though you own your device, it is Google and Apple who keep you for monitory purposes and use all the above means to monetize and track you.
  • It becomes more clear as to why your privacy is your security.

Solutions explained

  • By not signing in to a phone other than to create a password or security pin, you are not signing up to any identity tracking.
  • Any online activity you make is not then linked to you as a person.
  • Any apps installed off F-Droid, Aurora Store and App Lounge do not link to an identity  as they do not have one. The F-Droid store has Free and Opensource software that have been checked for malicious code or tracking activity.
  • The Aurora Store is a copy of the Google Play store but doesn’t require you to sign in and hides your identity. You can then download most, if not all apps that reside on the Play Store if you need Apps from the Play Store.
  • “But isn’t this the same thing then as signing in to Google”? Absolutely not. At no stage are you giving away your identity and email address or mobile number.
  • There are some tricks that are still required like using your browser to login for social media but for the rest, you will be fine.
  • One must always remember what info we are giving away when submitting or supplying your details as those email addresses, mobile numbers will follow you around.
